Getting to Know

Dean O'Regan

Q: What did you do prior to becoming a recruiter?

A:

Dean's passion and experience from competitive sports and his coaching experience, in addition to his Accounting and Recruiting background, provides a unique blend of competitiveness and people skills which has influenced how he works with both clients and candidates.

Q: What year (xx, xx, xxxx) did you become a recruiter?

A: I decided to become a specialized Accounting & Finance professional recruiter to utilize the technical skills that I gained as an Auditor and to work and learn about different businesses. I had one recruiter approach me to discuss an opportunity and, as I got to know more of what he did, I decided that I’d like to do his job more than the job that he was trying to recruit me for. I started recruiting March 1, 2000.

Q:  Who were your role models and are you mentoring others now?

A:  My professional role models have been professionals that I have become familiar with through professional associations, including US Recruiters. I’m grateful to Bob Rystrom for the opportunity to join US Recruiters & to Craig Libis for introducing me to Bob.

Q: If you were asked what your job title is, how would you respond?

A: I’m a Professional Recruiter specialized in recruiting Accounting & Finance Professionals. I’d also tell you that the acronym for my Company name (ERSC) is also the sequence of first letters our (Diane & I) four children’s names (our girl Elise, and our three boys – oldest to youngest, Reilly, Shane, & Cael). That’s the most rewarding part of telling you about my “title” (I’m not a title guy).

Q:  Is your primary job function sales driven or recruiting driven?

A:  My primary function is driven by my need to solve problems; which begins by identifying needs, which starts with great people at good or great companies seeking to become better companies by adding great people.

Q:  Why did you join USRC and what prompts you to continue to be a member?

A:  I joined to learn how to become a better professional recruiter by listening to the experiences of other professional recruiters regarding how they have overcome obstacles to solving problems. I continue to be a member for the access to recruiting tools that US Recruiters helps me obtain (to overcome obstacles) and because there are many members that I like interacting with on a professional basis. If you don’t necessarily specialize in financial recruiting and are searching for a top-level accounting or finance professional for a good or great company, I also want to be a member so that I could perhaps help you as a fellow US Recruiter (a win-win for both of us!)

Comment: Dean places candidates in Accounting and Finance: Senior Level positions.
