Q: What did you do prior to becoming a recruiter?
A: Prior to becoming
a recruiter I was a Branch Manager in the temporary services industry for
12 years with Thomas Temporaries based in Southern CA. Managed offices in
California, Texas, and Arizona.
Q: What year (xx, xx, xxxx) did you become
a recruiter?
A: In the late summer
of 1984.
Q: Why did you become a recruiter?
A. I Decided
to become a recruiter when I was fortunate to apply for a sales management
position at Sales Consultants in Edina Minnesota in 1984. This very busy
humming and office managed by Bob Hammer and Bob Rystrom was all I needed
to see to prompt me to ask the question " how do I get a job in this office
in the recruiting business?" The rest is history which lead to a very thriving
career in the industrial sector and eventually totally focused on the machine
tool/factory automation business.
Q: If you went out on your own as a recruiter what
prompted that decision?
A: My entire career
I have worked within the environment of a recruiting firm------Sales Consultants/
Management Recruiters, Cook Associates in Chicago (recruited to be Cook's
factory automation manager), and Houser Martin Morris.
Q: Who were your role models and are
you mentoring others now?
A: There were
many role models early in my career. Bob Hammer, Bob Rystrom, and many of
the recruiters in the Edina Sales Consultants office.
Participating in the CSAM program
gave me the opportunity to meet many great professionals in our recruiting
profession. More recently the inspiration has been provided by Barbara Bruno.
.
Q: If you were asked what your job title is,
how would you respond?
A: My title is director
of factory automation with an expertise in sourcing qualified candidates
for my vertical practice within the factory automation product sector
Q: Is your primary job function sales
driven or recruiting driven?
A: I would like
to say it is primarily sales driven, however that is not the reality with
the scarcity of qualified candidates available. It is primarily recruiting
driven.
Q: Why did you join USRC and what prompts you
to continue to be a member?
A:
I joined USRC to continue relationships with the very best recruiters in
our profession for I believe those of us who are fortunate enough to have
been trained in the MRI system are the best in the recruiting profession.
We come from a system of pride and truly learning to be professionals in
what we do. It is also an opportunity to share all this knowledge with others.
Our organization has so much to offer to our associates and our clients.
